Prevention and Precaustion against HIV !

HIV/Aids has affected totally 40.3 million people World wide. In 2005 total 3.1 million, or more than 95% of these new infections occurred in developing Countries. Around 7,500 people aged between 15 to 24 become infected with HIV every day (every 5 minute). As early HIV infection causes no symptoms it is primarily detected by testing a person's blood for presence of antibodies to HIV. Early testing is very important as it will enable an HIV-infected person to receive appropriate treatment at a time.

It can prevent infection with HIV by making sure that these fluids from an HIV-infected man or woman don't have a chance to enter in body. The best ways to be sure are to practice safer sex by using condoms.

HIV/ AIDS IN INDIA

India is one of the largest and most populated countries in the world, and 2.3 million people are currently living with HIV. In 1986 HIV emerged in India and it was published in a medical journal in January. First case of HIV in India was diagnosed among sex worker in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was noted with foreign visitors had played a role in initial infections among sex workers.

Awareness in India.
In 1987 a National AIDS Control Programme was launched to co-ordinate national responses. Its activities covered surveillance, blood screening, and health education. By the end of 1987, out of 52,907 who had been tested, around 135 people were found to be HIV positive and 14 had AIDS. Most of these initial cases had occurred through heterosexual sex, but at the end of the 1980s a rapid spread of HIV was observed among injecting drug users (IDUs) in Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland - three north-eastern states of India bordering Myanmar (Burma).
In 1992 the government set up NACO (the National AIDS Control Organization), to oversee the formulation of policies, prevention work and control programmes relating to HIV and AIDS. The government launched a Strategic Plan for HIV prevention. This plan established the administrative and technical basis for programme management and also set up State AIDS bodies in 28 states and 7 union territories.

AIDS is Dangerous!

AIDS is becoming more and more dangerous disease comparing with other disease. (eg. Cancer, hepatitis A-B, diabetes, viral infection , gynecological condition etc). There are many cases related with the AIDS patients, which are growing day-by-day.

Now the Question is that, why the growth of AIDS disease increasing more?. Is there any thing wrong, from which we are lacking behind, or most people rejecting and discriminating the AIDS in front of the family or they don’t want to discussed the topic of ‘AIDS’, or the sufficient education are not provided or we are just taking for granted?

AIDS stand for- Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. AIDS was first identified in the early 1980, an unprecedented number of people have been affected by the global AIDS. Since the first cases of AIDS were identified in 1981, more than 25 million people have died from AIDS. Today, there are an estimate 33.4 million people living with HIV and AIDS and each year around two million people die from AIDS related illness.

HIV is a virus that gradually attacks immune system cells. The body becomes more vulnerable to infections, which it will have difficulty in fighting off. It is at the point of very advanced HIV infection that a person is said to have AIDS. It can be years before HIV has damaged the immune system enough for AIDS to develop.A person is diagnosed with AIDS when they have developed an AIDS related condition or symptom, called an opportunistic infection, or an AIDS related cancer. The infections are called ‘opportunistic’ because they take advantage of the opportunity offered by a weakened immune system.Although there is no cure for AIDS, HIV infection can be prevented, and those living with HIV can take antiretroviral drugs to delay the onset of AIDS. However, in many countries across the world access to prevention and treatment services is limited. Global leaders have pledged to work towards universal access to HIV treatment, prevention and care, so that millions of deaths can be averted.

Use of Public Relation in Aids Awareness

Public Relation is not for just making good relation with the public but also it is for playing the role of humanity. Public Relation persons previously were only in firms for upgrading their products and making goodwill of the firm but nowadays it plays very different role in today’s scenario because public relation is on every firm today including railways, police, hospitals, ngo etc. This thing states that public reaction is became a wast spreading term today. Ngo is working for the goods of people. They are in non profitable organization but to reach people at large they require a medium which is get fulfilled with the help of pr persons. Public relation persons have the capability to reach the public and convince them for their benefit and also for the company, firm, social agency’s benefit for which they are working. Public relations professionals follow a set of principles in order to achieve success. Most campaigns begin with the identification of the problem or challenge, then move on to setting the public relations' goal.

Public Relation as a tool working for aids awareness campaign states that today they need Public Relation persons. Ngo wanted to reach the public which is affected by the aids or their family members who changed their view on aids patient. Many of the family members keep way the affected family member and their behavior changes. So, To aware them and to give the idea to the affected regarding how can he live the life although he has the aids the ngo need the help of public relation persons, and hence public relation has proved the their need is not only in the profit making organization but also is in organization which is non profitable. Although there were many organization which is working for social activities but they were not able to generate
awareness in public at mass.
